Epistem's leucocyte migration air pouch model is an in vivo screen for anti-inflammatory novel therapeutic agents. This model mimics confined sites of inflammation such as the joint and can be used to test for effects on many inflammatory conditions, for example, rheumatoid arthritis.
Air Pouch Model Description
An inflammatory stimulus is used to recruit inflammatory cells into an air-filled compartment. The effect of a novel therapeutic agent on the number, type and activity of inflammatory cells within the pouch can be measured.

- FACS analysis
- Histology and immunohistochemistry
- Myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity
