Epistem's in vivo wound healing models can be used to assess the effect of novel therapeutic agents on the rate of healing and degree of scarring. Epistem offers acute excisional and incisional wounding models including a human skin xenograft model which closely mimics the human wound healing process. An inflamed wound healing model is also available, where incisional wounds are treated with Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from Klebsiella pneumoniae which impairs healing.
Epistem also offers in vivo chronic wound healing models, including cutaneous diabetic (type1 and type2) models of delayed wound healing model and an ovariectomy (OVX) model that represents the most clinically relevant indications of oestrogen deficiency-induced age associated (postmenopausal) wound healing in the adult human.
These models can be modified to examine the effects of gender, hormones and age in regulating wound healing and to assess:
